THE DAD of tragic T in The Park teenager Megan Bell has launched a petition to revise age limits for music festivals.

Chris Bell has set up the online appeal calling for the age limit at music festivals to be increased to 21 in the wake of his daughter's death.

The 44-year-old father-of-four from Durham previously told the Evening Times he and his wife Lisa have been "left in the dark" over what happened to their fun-loving daughter.

He also said Megan told him about drugs being "freely available" at the Strathallan Castle festival in 2015.

The heartbroken dad is now determined to seek justice and has warned other parents to be aware of the dangers of music festivals.

Chris started the petition yesterday, on the same day friends and relatives gathered in Durham to host a football match in Megan's honour.

He says his aim is "simply to stop children attending these events where the dangers of alcohol drugs and even sexual assaults are rife."

Megan had been at T in The Park with a group of friends for less than 24 hours before she died.

Argyll teenager Peter McCallum, also 17, died at the festival in a separate incident on the same day.

The petition, which has gathered more than 300 signatures in less than 24 hours, states: "My beautiful daughter Megan was 17 when she attended a music festival with her friends.

"She never came home after falling ill.

"The stories that we have heard since mainly include youths taking drugs and drinking heavily.

"I strongly believe that an adult would not experiment or adhere to peer pressure like a child would.

"Children as young as 14-15 are attending these events unsupervised!

"Parents are not aware of what they are up to."

T in the Park organisers DF concerts previously said they were "devastated by the death of Megan Bell however, we believe the family should be allowed to grieve in peace."

Speaking during this year's T in The Park, DF boss Geoff Ellis said the deaths of both Megan and Peter had "hit us all hard".

He said: "We always say T in the Park is like a big community, like a family and when something like this happens, it's like a death in our family."
