MORE than 130 primary school pupils took part in the annual 2023 CPSSA Badminton Quaich tournament.

The tournament, wherein kids compete for the 2023 Quaich title, is organised by Clackmannanshire Council’s sport and leisure team.

This is part of the Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association (CPSSA) annual events programme, involving pupils from seventeen schools across the Wee County.

Teams were split into three groups, with group games hosted at Alloa, Alva and Lornshill Academies over three consecutive weeks in November.

Six schools – Banchory, St Serf’s, Menstrie, Strathdevon, Redwell and Clackmannan – progressed into this year’s final.

Redwell Primary pupils won the final and claimed the 2023 CPPSA Badminton Quaich champions, retaining their title from the year before.

Strathdevon Primary earned second place and third place went to Menstrie Primary.

A council spokesperson said: “The sport and leisure team would like to thank all pupils, volunteers and staff who supported this year’s event, making it a great success.

“Special thanks also go to Alloa, Alva and Lornshill Acadmies for hosting the matches.”
