KIDS from primary schools across Clackmannanshire took part in an inter-school Netball Festival.

A total of 21 teams, made up of 142 pupils from Primary 5 and Primary 7 classes from 14 schools in the Wee County, entered the Clackmannanshire Primary School Association P5-P7 Netball Festival.

The festival, held at Alloa and Lornshill Academies, gave the pupils the chance to try netball in a stress-free and enjoyable setting.

Organised by the Clackmannanshire Council Sports and Leisure team, games were played in a round robin format with the teams split across the two venues.

The festival preparation included practice at extra curricular netball clubs run by school staff, parent helpers and PE teachers as well as during school PE.

A spokesperson from Clackmannanshire Council said: “It was great to see the sportsmanship and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the event, and the standard of play and team work shown was outstanding from all schools.

“Thanks to all the parents, carers and staff who supported the participants in their preparation for the event and at the event itself, as well as to the local netball club Wee County Warriors and Stirling Netball for supporting and umpiring the game, all of which made two successful festivals.”
