A LIGHT-HEARTED evening of three short plays is set to go ahead in Dollar next month.

Dollar Drama Club will be welcoming audiences to the Burnside Hall over two evenings for its next production Take Three.

Seating will be laid out café-style at the hall on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, with performances starting at 7.30pm.

With three short plays on for both nights, take one will be a sequel to a play by Joan Greening called The Book Club of Little Witterington which was performed by the club in May 2022.

In the play, the book club meets After the Fete, directed by Damian Sherwood-Johnson and featuring Helen Costin, Elaine Payne, Susie Easto, Jane McGill and Catherine Gibson-Poole.

The second play will be Last Post by Jean McConnel, directed by Linda Rice and featuring Elaine Stark and Fiona Baxter.

The plot centres around a letter received by a recently widowed army wife.

The third play is All By Myself by Robert Scott, directed by Sandra Ballantine and featuring David Anderson, Stephen Lambert, Stuart Salmon, Isaac Wilsher and Daniel Shaw.

In the story, a shock awaits a castaway after spending seven years alone on a desert island.

Dollar Drama Club will be welcoming three new members to the stage on the nights in Helen Costin, Isaac Wilser and Daniel Shaw as well as Felicia Gray and Clare Piggot backstage.

Tickets to the evening are £12 each and can be reserved by emailing dollardrama@gmail.com or paid at the door – cash payments only.

Those heading along are welcome to bring their own bottles, glasses and snacks.

Dollar Drama Club is keen to hear from anyone interested in joining, whether on- or backstage – visit dollardrama.org.uk for more.
