THE Rotary Club of Alloa celebrated its 75th anniversary over the weekend, with Rotarians past and present attending the party.
Friends and guests of the club arrived at the Dunmar House Hotel on Friday, April 12 to celebrate seven and a half decades since the club was founded.
The current club president Lindsey Spowage welcomed the Governor of District 1010 Scotland North Jim Hatter and invited him to propose the toast to the club.
Mr Hatter also presented log service certificates to Ian Stuart and Bill Aikman and bestowed Frank Riggs and Jim Christie with the highest honour the club can bestow, the Paul Harris Fellowship.
President Spowage then congratulated the winner of last year’s Rotary Young Musician Competition, Michael Black, on his fantastic piano retical.
Michael, alongside vocalist Leona Hens, provided the after dinner entertainment for the gathered guests.
A commemorative booklet celebrating the history of the club since its founding was also launched by current club archivist Alistair Spowage.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Congratulations are due to past president John MacPherson and his team for organising yet another great event.”
