THE outstanding achievements of Wee County athletes and volunteers will be celebrated at an awards ceremony this month.

Clackmannanshire Sports Council Awards is set to go ahead at Alloa Town Hall on Thursday, March 21, as a celebration of sporting prowess and dedication.

Starting at 7pm on the night, it will recognise and champion the outstanding achievements of athletes across a myriad of disciplines and the volunteers who make it all happen.

Paddy Sherrard, chair of Clackmannanshire Sports Council, said: “I’m really looking forward to another great evening, celebrating the best athletes and championing the dedication of our volunteers from the sporting community in the Wee County.

“As ever, the judges have had a hard time deliberating who would make the top three and ultimately win each category.

“I have no doubt that the stories of their sporting achievements in 2023 will inspire others for even more success in 2024.”

Entries for this year's awards closed earlier in February with nominations sought in junior and senior categories for individuals and teams.

Last year's ceremony saw Hannah Toovey winning Junior Sports Personality after being selected to represent Great Britain, while Dylan Christie won in the senior category for his Euro efforts in martial arts.

Team of the Year was awarded to Alloa East End Ladies bowling club after they won the British Isles Champions.

There was much more and the annual awards will once again recognise the best of the best in the Wee County.

A limited number of tickets are available to the public balcony to cheer individuals and teams on – email Kenny Cook, secretary, on kcook@clacks.gov.uk to request a seat.
