ALLOA RFC bounced back from their Midland Bowl semi final defeat by trumping Aberfeldy 36-21.

Alloa headed north to take on the Perth and Kinross side, dominating the first 40 minutes, albeit aided by a strong wind in the first half.

They used their strong scrum to score early tries through Rab Truesdale and Callum McAllister. Aberfeldy scored a try of their own to force their way into the game.

Jamie Shaw and then Joe Viggers crossed the line to notch the bonus point, giving the visitors a comfortable 22-7 lead in Aberfeldy.

Coming out the break, Alloa were up against the biting wind and had to dig deep to keep the pressing home team at bay.

Shaw, McAllister and Reece Wilson were called upon to make some last ditch tackles to deny Aberfeldy’s powerful runners.

In the end, both teams scored 14 in the second half, providing Alloa with the 36-21 final scoreline, courtesy of second half tries from Rab Truesdale and Lleyton Kearney.

Jamie Shaw deservedly picked up man of the match, with Truesdale and Martin McKenzie on kicking duties between them.

Alloa return to Earlsfield for their final home match of the season this Saturday against Dundee University Medics.
