SAUCHIE JUNIORS have announced both Sam and Scott Davidson have signed contract extensions with the club.

These new deals mean the midfielder and defender will remain at the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Tying the two players down to the club is part of manager Fraser Duncan’s rebuild for next year, with the manager delighted to get the deals over the line.

Speaking to the club about Sam Davidson’s deal, Duncan said: “Chuffed to bits.

“Sam is a big part of the plans, he’s a great hardworking boy, and never gives you any bother.

“He’s really good to work with and I'm delighted that he’s put pen to paper for next season and is one who is part of the plans going forward.

“He works incredibly hard, he maybe doesn’t get all the luck with injuries but that’s just the type of player Sam is, people just go for him because he is a good footballer.

“To be fair, we shift him about from pillar to post, he never moans and just gets on with it.”

Alongside the Sam Davidson deal, club captain and veteran defender Scott Davidson has also put pen to paper.

He will remain leading the club for another year, with Duncan expressing delight when asked by the club on the deal.

He said: “Scotty’s not had a great season with injury but he’s another one who is a big part of the plans going forward and a big part of the club. Wwe don’t make him club captain for nothing.

“I do think he has a huge part to play next season, Scotty is going to really have to step up and lead the team and have others around him to push forward.

“I'm chuffed to bits, as a defender he’s absolutely superb. As a boy to work with, great attitude. He’s got a young family, he works everything around that.

“He’s a joy to work with, he's been at the club three or four years now, and I think he loves it just as much as the rest of us.

“I’m really glad that he’s put pen to paper and extended his stay, hopefully we can have a season where the injuries aren’t as hard on him.

“I can sleep a bit better knowing that this deal is done and dusted.”
